The Community Birth and Doula Initiative wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people with disabilities and people using assistive technology.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

What we do

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with visible focus and a “Skip to content” link.
  • Text and buttons meet colour-contrast requirements, and text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content.
  • Images have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Filters, search suggestions and “View more” buttons announce their results to screen readers.
  • Animation stops for people who ask their device to reduce motion.
  • We test pages with automated tools (axe) and by hand with a keyboard and screen readers, and staff who add content are trained to keep it accessible.

Known limitations

  • Some documents and videos in the Resource Hub come from other organizations and may not be fully accessible. Contact us and we will help you get the information in another format.
